Portrait of WAFS Founder Nancy Harkness Love

Pictured here in 1943, Nancy Harkness Love founded the Women’s Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron (WAFS) which used women to ferry planes from factory to airfields, an organization that would eventually merge with Cochran’s WFTD to become the WASP.
