Blinded by mortar fire on Okinawa, an infantryman is fed aboard a Naval Air Transport Service hospital plane evacuating wounded from Okinawa by 24-year-old Navy flight nurse Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Mae Hanson of Benson, Minnesota. She is assisted by Ensign James Dutton, U.S. Naval Reserve, who is a Naval aviator.
