WACs Wake Up To Whistle Blast in Italy
At 6:30 a.m. a sleep-shattering blast from the whistle of Cpl. Jean M. James begins the day for Air WACs serving with the 12th Air Force in Italy during World War II. The sleepers are, left to right: Pvt. Frances E. Mahr of Detroit, Michigan; Pvt. Rose A. Posco of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and T/4 Ethyl L. Hoffman of Newark, New Jersey.
