Marjorie Rockwell (later Williamson) of Schenectady, New York, left her job at the General Electric company plant in Albany to join the W.A.A.C. in 1943. After basic training in Daytona Beach, Florida, she went on to serve with the 806th W.A.A.C. detachment (later 806th W.A.C.) at the Grenada Army Air Base in Mississippi.
Marjorie would later marry her husband Ronald Williamson, who served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, and together they adopted a son and a daughter. She passed away in 2009 at the age of 91.
The photos in this collection were all taken during her time in Daytona Beach.
This remembrance provided by her niece, Melody Hensley.
