Four Navy Nurses Back From Sea Duty

Four Navy Nurses Back From Sea Duty

Proudly wearing American and European area campaign ribbons, four Pennsylvania nurses are back in the United States after months at sea aboard the Navy hospital ship USS Refuge. They are Lieutenant (junior grade) Mildred Geiges, U.S. Naval Reserve; Ensign Helen Wentz, U.S. Naval Reserve; Ensign Jean Grim, U.S. Navy; and Ensign Jane Otto, U.S. Naval Reserve. Among the few Navy women to get sea duty, they have made 3 round-trip crossings of the Atlantic aboard the 14000 ton Mercy vessel, which has facilities so complete and modern as to make her comparable with any hospital ashore.
